I set out to try to make bagels yesterday. It didn't quiet work out, but I got a loaf of bread out of it. Oh, well. Will try again today . . .

I didn't get to the boil stage- the dough was too sticky to even form into the bagel shapes, so I just stuck it into the loaf pan and cooked it. . . actually didn't come out too bad, just not what I was craving. . .

Kenji- I thought of that, but unlike matzos, bagels don't really ship well . . .

One of the daughters in the house where C&C interned said she loved bagels although she had never had one. She just loved the sound of the word! I intended to purchase some for her in the university area of Munich, said to be NY aughentic, but then it slipped my mind on the rush to the airport.
